Mujahid Yusuf (BSc. Ethics) is sent on an outreach programme by his boss, the Director of the Directorate of Public Enlightenment, to find solutions to some of the pressing problems that bedevil metropolitan Kano. While courting Ummi Kasim on an arranged marriage, the young man comes face to face with the serious problems surrounding marital unions brought about to bear on men by women bent upon a strict adherence to dispensable aspects of native Hausa culture. In a novel of ideas, he arrives at mental solutions to some of the social ills but that is after he rehabilitated his young brother, a commercial motorcyclist, by drawing him away from the primrose path to perdition and leading him to a more dignifying avocation. A man of great sense and sensibility, Mujahid can only earn the respect of the community and live up to his position as a model citizen and the conscience of the society by marrying and settling down. Only then will the society live in the possible world he envisions for all a world in which people live in amity and fill each other's pockets with the jewels of good conduct.
